GEMMA of BOW CREEK

VMADC, VMTDG, VMSDC

 22 Jan 1992 – 8 Jan 2005

Tri-colour Border collie bred by Lorne McAdam, owned and loved by Michael Buckley

Gemma was put down last Saturday after a long struggle with congestive heart failure. We have lost our pack leader! She took her role very seriously: keeping all in order, initiating puppies, and guiding the pack on the trail; guarding home and cottage properties, warning of neighbourhood activity, and seeing off postmen and meter-readers; greeting and saying farewell to visitors.

Gemma began agility when she was 4 years old. She and Mike learned much together and were 5 Qs short of her ATChC at her retirement in 2003. They were members of the winning OVBCC K9 Kup team in 1998 and with the second-placed team in 1999. They participated in many demos and especially enjoyed meeting children at the Agriculture Museum.

Gemma’s loved to navigate for Mike in the car and in motor boats, where she had a paws-on approach. We miss you old girl.
